Meet Me, Karen Klohn!

A little about me— I am a Canadian artist currently residing in Southern Alberta. I have been very fortunate to have lived internationally and have visited many countries in my life. My travels have influenced what I paint.
Many of my paintings have been sold through the years and my choices in occupations have always reflected my creativity. I have worked doing architectural paintings and gold leafing in buildings, donated my time painting large murals for a youth centre, gifted paintings for silent auctions, worked at an art framing shop (a great outlet for an artist) and I have worked as a florist. I have also flipped properties and enjoyed decorating them. I have taught art living abroad as well as out of my studio here in Canada. After moving from the West Coast of Canada to Southern Alberta I opened up my own studio and taught classes from there.
I have also volunteered teaching a child art in a school setting who was experiencing trauma in his life. I throughly enjoyed this because I could see such positive outcomes and changes in the child by teaching him how to draw and paint. I have also worked as an Educational Assistant in an elementary school where I was asked to teach art to several grade one classes which I loved.
My medium of choice for years was watercolours and in the last six years, I picked up painting in acrylics and have not looked back. They suit my style of painting with very vibrant colours in the subject matter I choose, especially my florals. I hope this gives you a little information about me. Most days you will find me in my studio painting.
